  3. Scanned copy of the co-borrowers signature (.jpg format,  size 10 kb to 50 kb)
  4. Scanned copy of the applicant’s aadhar card. (pdf format, size – 100 kb to 400 kb)
  5. Class 10 or 10 + 2 certificate of the student (pdf format, size – 100 kb to 400 kb)
  6. Address proof of the guardian (pdf format, size – 100 kb to 400 kb)
  7. Relevant document of the school or educational institution stating the current course fee. (pdf format, size – 100 kb to 400 kb)
  8. Receipt of admission. (pdf format, size – 100 kb to 400 kb)
  9. Student’s PAN card. If the student has no PAN Card he/she can upload the undertaking document available in the student credit card online portal. (pdf format, size – 100 kb to 400 kb)
  10. PAN Card of the guardian. The undertaking document is also available for the guardian if he/she has no PAN card. (pdf format, size – 100 kb to 400 kb)

Do I need to upload any domicile or cast certificate?

No, you don’t need to upload any cast or domicile documents during the application process. 

Who is considered as a resident of West Bengal for the SCC Scheme?

The student’s family who residing in West Bengal for at least 10 years are considered eligible for the education scheme

Do I need to upload any residential proof during the application process?

  3. Hostel fees, rent, or any license fees you need to pay to continue your study. 
  4. You can also pay the fees you need to live outside the hostel. 
  5. Cost of the products you need to buy for your course. (laptops, computers, books, etc.)
  6. Other expenses required to complete your course, etc. 

Is there any item-wise cap of expenditure?

  1. You can use up to 20% of your sanctioned amount for living expenses during the course.
  2. For non-institutional expenses, you can use up to 30% of the sanctioned loan amount. 

Where the institutional payment amount will be transferred to?

The tuition fee, course fee, or other fees payable to the institute will be credited to the concerned institution’s bank account.  

Where the funds for non-institutional requirements will credit?

The funds issued for non-institutional requirements will be credited to the registered bank account of the student. 

Do I need to submit any non-objection certificate from my current institution before applying?

No, you don’t need to submit any no-objection certificate. 

What is the minimum eligibility required?

The applicant should pass Class 10 (Madhyamik Exam) and enrolled for 10+2 (Higher Secondary) at any recognized board in West Bengal.

The applicant student and his/her family should be living in West Bengal for at least 10 years. 

If you are from other states like Karnataka, Delhi, or Bihar then you can try for other student credit card India government provides like Delhi govt loan schemes for students, sc st loan scheme in Karnataka, etc.

Can I get the loan a second time if I cannot pass the course at first attempt?

You can file a complaint at your nearby Police station and inform the Bank to reissue the card and you will get all benefits in the new card too. 

Can I replace the card if it is damaged?

You can contact the issuing bank for a replacement card. 

How can I know if my application is approved or not?

What the mode of credit will be?

The student credit card loan amount will be sanctioned as a term loan.

Do I need to pay any margin money for the loan under the SCC scheme?

  1. For a loan amount of Rs. 4 lakh there will be no margin money.
  2. Any loan amount above Rs. 4 lakh there will be margin money of 5% of the loan amount. 
  3. Scholarship/Assistance ship will be included in the Margin money. 

Does the applicant need to provide collateral security?

No, there is no need for collateral security. 

Does the applicant need to enter an agreement with the issuing bank to get the loan?

Yes, the applicant needs to sign in an agreement with the issuing bank to get the loan approved. 

What is the applicable rate of interest on the West Bengal Student Credit Card Scheme?

The applicant will have to bear a 4% simple interest rate annually on the loan amount. Also, he/she can get a 1% rebate on the interest rate if the credit interest is fully served during the course. 

Is there any moratorium or repayment holiday of the loan?

Yes, the applicant will get a repayment holiday of 1 year once the study period is over. 

Do I need to pay the Interest during the moratorium period?

Yes, you will be charged at a 4% simple interest rate during the moratorium period. 

What will be the repayment period?

You need to pay the loan amount within 15 years (including moratorium and repayment holiday). 

Is there any rebate if the loan amount is paid within the stipulated period?

Yes, if the loan amount is paid within the stipulated period, there will be a 1% rebate given on the interest rate

Do I need to pay any processing charge or fee if I prepay the loan?

No, there is no processing fee or penalty for prepayment.  

Do I need to pay any processing fee before the loan approval? 

No, you don’t need to pay any processing fee to get the loan. 

Can I pay the loan in EMI?

Yes, you can repay the loan amount in EMI. 

Does the SCC scheme have any life coverage?

There will be live coverage for the student. The insurance amount will be the same as the sanctioned loan amount. 

Can a student provide his/her parent’s bank account number, in case he/she does not have a bank account?

Only if the bank account is a joint account of the student with his/her legal guardian and the account should be active at the time of application. 

Is it necessary to provide the details of the co-borrower?

It is important to provide the personal as well as bank details of the co-borrower. The co-borrower and the student will apply jointly for the loan.

Can a student credit card holder apply for an increase in the loan amount during the study period?

Yes, the applicant can apply for an enhancement of the loan amount within the limit of 10 lakh. 

Can a student apply for credit card if he/she does not have a bank account?

According to the guidelines the applicant needs to have a major bank account at any RBI affiliated bank. 

Is it mandatory to have an account in the State Co-Operative Bank?

No, but you need to have a bank account at any RBI-affiliated bank.  

Can I change my email id after the registration process is complete?

You can contact the student credit card helpline number 1800-102-8014 or mail at [email protected] to make changes in the registered email id, you also need to provide your Aadhar number or class X/XII registration number as a supporting document. 

Who will verify the details of the applicants?

The concerned educational institution in which the student is perusing his/her study will verify the details. 

Can I edit my details before submitting the application form?

As long as the application form is not finally submitted, you can edit the details of your application.

Is it possible to edit the details once after the final submission of the application?

You can call the student credit card helpline no 1800-102-8014 or mail at [email protected] for making any changes after the final submission. 

What if the applicant has forgotten his/her user id and password?

You can retrieve your user id and password from the student credit card login portal. 

I am perusing my engineering course in a private college outside West Bengal, can I apply for the loan?

If your family is a resident of West Bengal for 10 years or more, then you can apply for the loan. Also, the institution needs to be AICTE approved.

I am perusing my UG degree program outside West Bengal, can I apply for the Loan?

If your family is a resident of West Bengal for 10 years or more, then you can apply for a loan. Also, the institution needs to be well recognized.

If you are not fulfilling the above criteria, then you can also try several educational loan schemes such as education loan IDBI, pnc student credit card, ICICI bank student credit card, or SBI credit card for students

Can an undergraduate student of deemed university apply for the scheme?

Yes, if your family is residing in West Bengal for 10 years, you can apply for the scheme. You can find the scheme details on the official website. 

I am a student of a private engineering college in West Bengal, I don’t have a PAN Card, can I apply for the scheme? 

Yes, you can, but you need to submit the undertaking document to your bank during the disbursement of the loan amount. 

I am studying under a degree level Hotel Management course, but my college is not affiliated with AICTC can I apply for the loan?

If your college is affiliated with any recognized West Bengal University and your family is residing in West Bengal for 10 years you can apply for the loan. 

I am preparing for NIIT outside West Bengal, but my institute does not have a NIRF rank, can I apply for the scheme?

The ranking of the institution does not matter. If you fulfill the criteria for education loan under the SCC scheme.

I am studying engineering in a private engineering college outside West Bengal. But my college is not on the list, how can I apply for the West Bengal student credit card scheme?

What if my University is UGC recognized but not approved by AICTC?

Yes, you can apply if your family is residing within West Bengal for at least 10 years, your institution is well recognized and you can fulfill other required qualifications. 

If you are from any other state of India such as Delhi or Karnataka or Bihar then the Bihar government has also launched the Bihar student credit card scheme so if you live in Bihar you should apply for student’s credit card Bihar. Other states governments also run loan schemes for their meriterious students.

I am studying in Tripura can I get a loan for My Living Expenses?

Yes, you can but your family needs to be residing in West Bengal at least for 10 years. And you need to fulfill other required eligibilities.

I have passed Madhyamik/ ICSE but I have not passed Higher Secondary (10+2). Now I am studying under an AICTC approved Diploma course in West Bengal, can I apply for the scheme?

NIRF states the ranking of the institution. 

NAAC is the process of accreditation of educational institutions.

I am studying computer science outside West Bengal but my institution does not have the NIRF ranking. Can I apply for the scheme?

You can apply if your family is residing in West Bengal for at least 10 years, your institution is well recognized, and you fulfill other required eligibilities. You don’t need to provide the NIRF ranking of your institution.
